In October 2016, Facebook told (in a statement) TechCrunch, “We have started to test delivering ads to people in Facebook Groups, and will be evaluating the response before determining how we will move forward."
Facebook tests showing sponsored ads in Facebook Groups to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada (at first). And it's available only on Mobile and Desktop placements (as of writing of this article).
Facebook also said that they will reach the maximum limit of Newsfeed ad load in mid-2017 and now looking at other revenue streams.
